Baby steps

img_6332Until recently,  I hadn’t worn a skirt  in at least 5 years. My midsection is where I carry most of my weight and it makes me self-conscious to wear pants/skirts. I mostly stick to dresses-with  empire waists or skater dresses as they flatter my body type. But this summer, I wanted to love my body, flaws and all. Also-there are way too many cute skirts out here for me to worry about my pooch being on display. So, skirts have made their way into my outfit rotation.

I’ve been pairing them with graphic tees, camis, and my summer staple- a denim vest. I’m glad I decided to try something out of my norm. It adds another dimension to my wardrobe and wearing them has made me feel more positive about my body. It highlights the part of my body I’m most self-conscious about, but I still feel cute and confident when I wear them. Who knows!? Maybe I’ll be wearing jeans next!

Probably not anytime soon. Baby steps. 😉

What I Wore

I bought this dress a couple of months ago, but haven’t worn it until today. It’s from the Victoria Beckham collection at my fave, Target. I loved the silhouette and the mod-ish look so I had to have it (and two others from her collection).

I paired it with black and white bangles and my new bag. A black straw circular purse that I picked up while thrifting in Little Rock, Arkansas last weekend. I’m a sucker for straw/wicker bags and I was happy to add this unique one to my collection.
