October was a whirlwind of a month. I felt like I was going, going, going all month long. Business wise, I had two pop ups. Hearts and Hearts Vintage was one of 5 vintage vendors at Tako’s Treasures for 3 weeks and the second was a weekend pop up at Red Velvet.
I was successful at both, but I’m taking a pop-up break. For November, I’ll be focusing on growing my brand, sourcing and organizing inventory and hopefully filling my shop up to the brim with new items!
I went to Nashville earlier in the month. Sadly, I didn’t do any exploring of the city. It was a one day shopping trip. Pin-Up Girl Clothing (PUG) was hosting a yard sale! PUG dresses usually retail for $100-$350, but at their infamous yard sales nothing is more than $60. Of course I made that 4 hour trip up the highway to shop, shop, shop! I’ve heard the legends of these yard sales and knew that it was going to be worth it. They hosted a contest to get early entry and as someone who HATES LINES I wanted it more than anything. The contest required reposting images once a day on either Facebook or Instagram. 3 people from each social media site would be given 10 minutes early entry to shop with a friend. I entered of both and I won…BOTH! None of my friends accompanied me on the trip so I asked two girls who are customers at the boutique I work at and they were thrilled. We all had great hauls and I’m sure my dresses will make a cameo on the blog some day soon.
The rest of the month was spent working and being way more social than I’m used to. Everyone and their mom was born in October so I had a few birthday parties and dinners to attend. I had a good October, but my body was over it and I came down with the flu the last week of the month and missed all Halloween activities. I’m still not 100%, but I’m finally feeling better.
Somebody remind me to get a flu shot in September next year!
We had a rare under 90 degree day in Memphis so I spent the day in one of my favorite vintage dresses usually reserved for fall. I usually stay as far away from my polyester vintage as possible during the summer, but this one is so breathable and so darn cute, I pulled it out.
So many things about this dress make it my favorite. The color, the accordion skirt, the button up top, and hello!! I could match it to one of my pairs of spectacles! I purchased it from one of my favorite Instagram shops, Shop Maeberry! Instagram shopping will be the end of me! It has replaced Etsy for my go to vintage shopping.
I bought this dress a couple of months ago, but haven’t worn it until today. It’s from the Victoria Beckham collection at my fave, Target. I loved the silhouette and the mod-ish look so I had to have it (and two others from her collection).
I paired it with black and white bangles and my new bag. A black straw circular purse that I picked up while thrifting in Little Rock, Arkansas last weekend. I’m a sucker for straw/wicker bags and I was happy to add this unique one to my collection.
I love wearing dark colors. The majority of my wardrobe is black and I’ve been challenging myself to wear and buy clothing with more color and patterns. But, gah! It’s so hard. I made an exception and bought this little tank dress from Old Navy when they were having a $10 dress sale(I can’t resist those). It spoke to me because it’s short, sleeveless, and blousy! Perfect for this Memphis heat! I purchased the dress with the promise that I would wear it with something that popped! And so, I did. I’m really into the current kimono trend. They’re perfect statement pieces for the summer. It can change a little simple black shift dress into something more. I was drawn to this one, because of the vibrant, bold floral design and the fringe on the hem. Cute, right? I also added this white Fish bone necklace from Tatty Devine! It really stands out against my all black ensemble. How do you jazz up your simple dresses?
I’ve been dreaming of the perfect gingham dress for summer and I’ve finally found it!
I picked this blue and white gingham dress up from Target and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s 100% cotton, so comfortable and breezy! The skirt is very full giving it a fun vintage inspired look. The dress is available in a small up to XXL!
Are you on board with the gingham trend? I can’t get enough!
