Mint Cream Vintage Expo is an event that showcases the best in vintage clothing, jewelry, shoes, toys, and furniture from local trailer park vintage retailers. Including yours truly. The expo will be held at Tad’s Imaginarium which is the most unique venue in Memphis. It’s an indoor  trailer park covered from ceiling to floor in industrial art created by Tad. Truly a must-see. This is Mint Cream’s second expo and if it’s anything like last year’s, it will be a blast!

This year’s expo will also have entertainment! Los Psychosis will be playing, hair demos, a classic car show and a fashion show! The expo is May  7th from 11AM until 7PM at Tad’s Imaginarium. More information can be found on the Facebook event page.

Hope to see you there!

Pop up!

On March 19th, Hearts and Hearts participated in the first Sunday Vintage Pop Up Market. The Sunday Vintage Pop Up will be a monthly pop up market held on the Fuel Cafe patio. There were vintage vendors, handmade sellers, and yummy brunch (and mimosas!) provided by Fuel Cafe. I had one of their breakfast quesadillas and I can tell you they are superb. Here are some photos from the event.

It was a lot of fun. I met a lot of people, hung out with friends, did some networking and made some sales! All in all, a successful pop up. The next pop up is in April. Hope to see you there!

70s Dream Dress

Oh, you know. Just hanging out in a(nother) dress I originally purchased for the shop, that ended up in my own closet. Actually, this dress has barely been in my closet. I love it so much that I’ve been wearing it any chance that I can get. 70s flowy, lightweight, bohemian, floral dresses are my jam. And this one ticks all of those boxes and makes me feel super cute!

Fell in love with a…dress?

This dress. This vintage 70s knit dress has been in my closet for about a year. I bought it for Hearts and Hearts Vintage, but when I measured it and saw that the measurements were my measurements? Well, I had to try it on. And it was perfect! I immediately deactivated it from my shop and hung it in my personal closet. And that is exactly where it remained for the next year.  A couple of weeks ago, as I was organizing and preparing for a pop-up shop, I decided to re-list the dress. It has  been hanging there for a year and a beauty like this doesn’t deserve that. IT NEEDS TO BE WORN. And worn it will be. It  sold yesterday and I wasn’t prepared for the emotions that came with selling it. I mean, I’ve sold over 300 dresses and sent them off without a care in the world,  but this dress? When I got the notification that it had been purchased I seriously got teary eyed. I cried. Over a dress.  A fantastic dress, but still a dress. It took me the rest of the evening (and trying it on and taking selfies) to get over it, but I did.

My emotions still surprise me.

Squee!

-I thrifted a handful of 1960 vintage doll patterns. I planned on using them for crafting, but I can’t bear to cut them up. They’re so neat! I’ll figure out something. Any ideas?

GAME OF THRONES! TOMORROW!

They DID add another Firefly actress to the Dallas Comic Con line up. Summer Glau! Now, I shall wait patiently for them to announce Gina Torres.

-I’m super in love with this Pastel Pink Heart Shaped necklace from ladybirdlikes on Etsy.

Honey Maid’s response to the Anti-Gay backlash they received made my heart happy. 🙂

DreamWorks animator’s son stars in mini movies.

A happy customer in a tee she bought from Hearts and Hearts!

Panorama fail turned into this hilarious/weird CATerpillar thing that kind of creeps me out.

 Have a good weekend!!! ^_^

Thrift Finds!

I went thrifting over the weekend and found an amazing dress! It’s a vintage uniform of some sort . Pink with white accents, chest pocket, huge hip pockets, button up front, elastic waist and a matching belt. I initially bought it for the shop, but when I tried it on, I knew it was going in my wardrobe! I love it! Cute, right?!

It has joined a place on my list of best thrift finds! The others on the list are equally awesome and of course I want to share them with you! First up, comics!

Found 12 of these DC comics in a stack of books at a second hand store. I had to have them! They’re super sized, about the size of 2 normal comics, and in great condition for unprotected comics from the 70s!

Going to grandma’s suitcase! I had one of these as a little Sophierocious and am pleased to have one again. I use it whenever I get a chance. It’s been used as a toiletries case when traveling and a case for my skate wheels.

This vintage P/K umbrella is definitely my favorite find! It’s a floral umbrella from the 60s. I found it at a yard sale in West Virginia for $1! I love it. It was in perfect condition when I purchased it, but now has a few nicks in the fabric caused by some battery acid. Repairing it is on my to-do list!

I adore this mint green dress that I found at a yard sale. It doesn’t fit me, but it’s one of my favorite finds. It’s so rare to find a vintage item in perfect condition with tags! I was stoked to add this to my collection and now to Joy’s Vintage Closet.
