I love vintage style from any era and both enjoy collecting and shopping for vintage items. I find digging through clothes to find that perfect vintage find in a second hand store or someone’s yard sale is thrilling! I eventually found myself not only buying items for myself, but for friends. Saying, “Oh, so-and-so, would look great in this”! and over the years I’ve ended up with quite the collection. I enjoy it so much, I decided to start an Etsy store to sell some of these items and give my “finds” happy homes!

I’ve technically owned the shop since 2010, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I actually listed items to sell. Joy’s Vintage Closet was more successful than I thought it would be and now I want to put  some extra love into my shop. I want to grow it from a hobby into a small business. And that takes lots of work. I took some cues from Sarah’s various posts on selling on Etsy and have come up with a to-do list for Joy’s Vintage Closet. For the next 4 weeks I will be sharing the process of revamping my shop. I’ll be updating the the shop’s layout and info page, setting up social media accounts to help with marketing, creating a “studio” for photographing the pieces(I got a camera and tripod for Christmas!), and updating all photos and editing listings. The goal is to open the shop again in February.

And the first order of business has already been completed. I changed the shop’s name from Joy’s Vintage Closet to HeartsandHearts vintage shop. I’ve never felt attached to Joy’s Vintage Closet and I think HeartsandHearts is just catchier. ^_^

  1. I’ve never purchased anything from Etsy. I’ll look occasionally at jewelry or other personalized items but I’ve never said, I have to have it. I’ll have to check out your shop once it’s up and running. Is it just clothes you sell?

    • I only sell clothes! But Etsy has so many awesome handmade items! I have to limit my shopping on Etsy because it can become quite addictive! I love buying jewelry and stationery from Etsy!
