Weekly Wishes 2

I was mildly successful with my goals from last week.

1-I managed to stay away from those morning runs to Burger King by preparing a to-go cup of coffee and a banana for the commute to work. I didn’t make it to the gym as much as I wanted to, but I did make it once! Which is a step!

2.The only thing I picked up to read last week was the latest issue of Saga. So, the goal of reading more goes back on the list.

3. The baby blanket isn’t complete! In fact, it may be ruined? I must’ve dropped a dozen or so  stitches somewhere because halfway through the blanket, it starts shrinking!

I may just scrap the entire project and send them a store bought gift OR I may rip out the the rows that are a bit wonky and continue. *shrug* Who knows!

4. I updated Joy’s Vintage closet. Added couple of new pieces, more precise measurements, and a couple of new photos on some of the items. If you’re into vintage fashion, check it out! Subscribers (via bloglovin) and friends of the blog always get 15% off with the code-SOPHIEROCIOUS.

My goals for the next couple of weeks are to continue working out, eating better, reading more, and to get more organized…with EVERYTHING!

Weekly Wishes

Happy Monday! Happy Fall!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Last week was super exhausting for me, so my weekend plans were to rest! I slept in until noon on Saturday and spent the day cleaning and catching up on laundry. Sunday was spent playing GTA V and late Sunday afternoon I got the brilliant idea to put Marley Twists in my hair. Yes, I know I just took my braids down and yes, I know it takes hours upon hours to complete Marley Twists–None of that seemed to be an issue to me yesterday. And that is why I am sitting here at work on Monday with 3/4 of my hair twisted and 1/4 of it in a…well, it’s just a poof!

Anywho, today I’m introducing something new to Sophierocious. A lot of bloggers I follow participate in Weekly Wishes. A motivating weekly linkup created by The Nectar Collective.

The rules:

1. Share your posts about your goals, challenges, or wishes for the week, month, year, decade, whatever! Entries completely unrelated to the theme or linked to your homepage will be deleted.

2. Link back to this site so others can get their goal-setting on, too! You can use the button below if you’d like! *I heard some people had problems with the button last week but it is now fixed. 🙂

I’m a big fan of reading other blogger’s Weekly Wishes, but have yet to participate in it myself. Until now. I don’t promise to do this every week, but I will do it every now and again.

My mom gave me her guest membership card to Planet Fitness. I’ve had it for 2 weeks and have gone to the gym a total of 0 times! Definitely going to try to visit at least 3 times before next Monday. Oh, and I will not buy french toast sticks from Burger King this week. They are so convenient when I’m rushing to work on weekday mornings, but hey, so is a banana!

Instead of picking up my controller to play GTA V on a free evening this week, I’ll pick up my Kindle and spend some time reading. I have become an e-book hoarder. Buying books when they’re on sale, but never finding the time to read them.

I want to finish the baby blanket I’ve been knitting  for over a month!

I need to update Joy’s Vintage Closet with new items and update the pictures! Long overdue!

What are your goals for the week?!

It seems like everyone is making a MOBA these days. A MOBA is a multiplayer online battle arena game like League of Legends and DOTA. The genre is becoming very popular, but I’m not complaining. Bring them on! At Pax, I got to play Strife, an upcoming MOBA from S2 Games, and really enjoyed my experience. Strife will be S2’s second MOBA, their first being the very popular Heroes of Newerth. Obviously with a new game, S2 is changing things up! Most notably they will be implementing a karma system, shared gold instead of last hit gold, and there’s absolutely NO CHAT during the game! You will only be able to chat after the game is over. S2 Games aim is to make the Strife community less toxic and more inviting than other MOBA communities. I’m curious to see how this will all work out. I received 2 beta codes and Strife comic books for playing the game. The beta doesn’t open until later this year, but I’ve already registered and I have one more code and comic for you!

I don’t have very many followers to do a legit giveaway, so just leave a comment saying you want in. If I get more than one comment, I’ll pull your names out of a hat and announce the winner of the beta code/comic on September 24th. Sound good? Good! ^_^

Until then, enjoy this compilation of some Strife gameplay.

Sailor Moon reboot!

I’ve been a Sailor Moon fan since the beginning of time. Well… the beginning of Sailor Moon time. My love for Sailor Moon knew no bounds when I was in Jr. High. I’m not even sure how pre-teen Sophia found out about Sailor Moon, but when she did, she went crazy for it. Three of my friends and I watched the show every morning before school and talked about episodes in length on our lunch break. Eventually, we also started writing our own episodes, complete with new characters and relationships. Little did we know, we were writing fan fiction and shipping. Haha! In high school, my love never faltered. I was known as that girl who loves Sailor Moon, my email address was chibineptune@thiswebsite.com, my wall was plastered with Michiru/Haruka posters, I had a geocities page dedicated to the series and I lied to my dad that I needed manga delivered from Barnes and Noble to my house…for school. -_- I’ve calmed down over the years, but when I saw that my show was coming back!? I freaked! First, the excited typical fan girl squeals then the mean ol’ lady squeals- “They better not ruin my my show”!

Now I’m just excited it’s coming back and that a new generation can enjoy it. Also..MORE MERCH IN STORES! I can’t wait to watch in December/January. The anime will be simulcast worldwide on video-sharing website Nico Nico Douga this winter. Were/are you a sailor moon fan? Excited about the reboot of the series?! Will you be watching with me!?!

I’m currently re-watching the original series. I may have to dig into my mom’s attic to find my manga/fan fic next time I’m in Memphis.

It’s Wednesday. What’s up?!

League of Legends-I’m super late to this party, but I just started playing League of Legends. I’ve heard of it for years, even watched some of the North American championships last year, but for whatever reason avoided it. Until now! I met a lovely young lady randomly at a coffee shop who convinced me to try it and dudes…DUDES! I love it and am a League-aholic. I’ve logged an embarrssing amount of hours in just a little over a week. I’m not very good, but I am enjoying myself and improving. Anyone else play? Who are your favorite champions? Add me and help a noob out! (Username-Rawrrrayda)

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy -I love rythym games, so no surprise that I’m digging Theatrhythm Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy music, tons of levels, and modes? Winning. Playing a couple of games before bed has been my nightly ritual for the last week. It was just announced that a sequel, Curtain Call, will be released in 2014.

Trillium From the first two issues, I would describe Trillium as a sci-fi, romance. It reminds me of Saga. The art, by artist Jeff Lemire of Sweet Tooth is beautiful and the story is engaging. I’m already sad it’s only 10 issues. 😦

Orphan Black I didn’t find out about this show until the season was already over. Which was a good thing. I got to binge watch it every episode over one weekend! Great show about…well, I can’t really tell you what it’s about without spoiling a little bit of it. Just watch this trailer!

I’m in awe of Tatiana Maslany’s acting. She plays 7 distinct characters in season one! Can’t wait for season 2.

This song always pumps me up and puts me in a great mood.

I always get hair envy when I see the lovely colored locks of Glitzy Geeky Girl and Nerdburger. Bright pinks, blues, and purples, oh my! On a trip to the beauty supply store, what did I spy with my little eye? Clip in extensions of all colors! I bought the purple ones and I love them! I love the fact that i can just snap them in when I go out and take them out just as easy when I go to work. What do you think? I’m already planning on getting the hot pink ones as well! :3

September’s Games with Gold

Xbox Live users, I hope you’ve been taking advantage of Games with Gold. A promotion Xbox started a couple of months ago where they offer two free games a month. One on the 1st of the month and the second on the 16th. They’re usually older games, but they’re free! Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas will be released on September 16th and the current free game is one of my most played games. Actually, I’ll go ahead and say it’s my most played game on Xbox.

Magic the Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 (wow, that’s a lot…I’ll refer to it as Magic2013 for the rest of the post) is a fantastic series. Magic 2013 is the third iteration of the series. I’ve played each of them and each release is better than the last. If you have no experience with Magic the Gathering or you’re an MtG noob, don’t fret! This is for you too! Magic 2013 has a great tutorial option and playing through the campaign itself does a pretty good job of teaching the basics of the game.

The basic campaign has you dueling against various opponents of increasing difficulty. With each win you unlock new cards and decks which can be used throughout the rest of the game and multiplayer mode. Besides the normal campaign, there are 3 more modes which you can play.

Revenge campaign -Take revenge on the Planeswalkers! This mode is basically the normal campaign just buffed up and more difficult. Play this for the challenge and to unlock more cards and decks.

Planechase-This mode is super fun! Sometimes the decks can be a bit unbalanced in multiplayer (I’m looking at you Goblin deck!). The sheer randomness of this mode helps make multiplayer games a bit more fair if you find yourself against someone with one of the those harder to beat decks. Planechase is a normal Magic game with a die and a stack of giant cards in the middle of the playing field. These giant cards are different planes of magic. On each player’s turn they play their turn as normal and can then opt to roll the die. Depending on what it lands on, players will either move to the next plane or activate the special ability written on the current plane. The special abilities are completely random. Like…all creatures have deathtouch or bring all  creatures from the graveyard to the playing field. Ok, I’m not entirely sure if those are actual special actions (I haven’t played since the new one was released>.<) , but similar to those. Seriously. A new plane can be a game changer. Which is part of why I love it so much. you never know what’s going to happen.

Challenges-Pretty self-explanatory. These are challenges. Such as “it’s your opponent’s turn and he’s intent to beat down your last few points of line. Can you survive the assault and win on your next turn?” FUN!

Download this game. It’s free if you get it before September 16th, a lot of fun, much cheaper than playing actual Magic the Gathering in your local game store and you don’t have to wear pants*. If you wanna play with me(teams!) or dare to challenge me, leave your gamertag! But you should be afraid. For I am Nicol Bolas…SEE?

*I still play Magic the Gathering in gaming stores.  Nothing beats that! Not even pants-less Xbox Magic.   🙂
